I just wanted to mention that I had a wonderful GF meal at Emory'sthe other
night. I was intrigued by an ad they put out saying they now
have a gluten-free menu, so we went for a celebratory meal.
Now, the thing about Emory's that isn't obvious, when you drive
by, is that the location is outstanding. It sits on a small, quiet lake.
In the summer you can sit outside, practically on the water. In
cold weather, you can reserve a table looking over the lake. Which we
did, about an hour before sunset, and enjoyed one of the most
scenic views I've had in a restaurant.
The food, however, was exceptional. Yes, there is now a GF menu.
And you don't even have to ask for it: it's part of their large and
varied "regular" menu. We ordered a couple of items that weren't on
the GF menu though, and they were fine also. Other than
the fact I ate WAY too much, my stomach had nothing
to say about the meal other than gratitude.
Emory's is not a chain, and the cook showed a creative bent
that I've missed in the chain restaurants. The clams were not the
usual butter-broth steamed clams: they had a good dose of garlic
and a touch of jalepeno too. The sushi was fresh and beautiful. The
rack of lamb was melt-in-your-mouth tender, just charred a bit on
the outside and done to medium-rare-perfection in the middle.
Another thing I appreciated about the layout was that it is more
spacious than many places I've gone to lately. Plenty of room
between tables: it feels quieter and less crowded even during
rush hour.
I'm not financially related to this business at all, but if you
are looking for a good place to eat just north of Seattle,
it's a great place to go. It's located near Central Market
too, which has a great selection of gluten-free food (including
the Green's Belgian Ale and Chebe bread mix). You can visit
