Your motherboard will take a PCI card only for a video upgrade.  Be sure not 
to confuse with PCI-E when you go shopping.

I had the same issue as you with a Dell desktop -- I went to Tigerdirect.com 
and found an $80 PCI card with 256mb RAM and a decent Radeon chipset and 
have not regretted it.  The machine runs nearly every current 3rd person 
military-style game that is out there and with little or no lag.
BTW, the card was:  Visiontek Radeon 9250 Video Card - 128MB DDR, PCI, 
DMS-59, Low Profile, Video Card.
