Leland says:
>The competition for work looks very tight for the upcoming year<
They're not exactly our competitors since we don't do "tear downs", but out
here at the Center of the Universe every other out of work carpenter has
become a barn demo guy. We even got a call last week from an Amish guy
wanting to know if we bought barn timbers. The sad truth is most of these
guys don't know squat about barns or their history so they take the best and
biggest without any consideration as to significance, a word not in most of
their vocabularies.
Oddly enough they will probably flood the market and lower the value of the
salvage while reducing the stock of good candidates for restoration or
adaptive reuse. Another example of the commodities' market gone haywire ...
if you'll pardon the country pun.
