Well, I'm just full of funny stories; actually not that many but here's
another one.
Until this happened, I was apparently confused about Field Day. Back in 1991,
a friend and I decided we wanted to operate Field Day. So, I figured I better
get some open wire and copper wire to make up an antenna.
Knowing that AES in Milwaukee would get things shipped to Lansing in a day or
two max, I called them up on Saturday June 22. I asked the gentleman on the
phone if these things were in stock because I wanted to put something up for
Field Day. He said "Sure, I'll get those shipped out to you yesterday."
Not realizing his humor, I was sure surprised the next day when I heard some
club members talking about dismantling the station and packing up the
generator. Now, I have it indellibly etched in my memory that Field Day is
the fourth weekend in June, not the last weekend.
Can't say enough though for planning ahead for the 1992 Field Day, huh?
