This product is labeled "Gluten Free" but clearly lists as an ingredient
"Oat Bran". I called the manufacturer this morning, Natural Organics
Laboratories, Inc., and asked if the oats used are definitely McCanns Irish Oats or
some other clearly uncontaminated oat. The representative was not particularly
friendly and gave me the standard response that recent research has concluded
that oats are gluten free. When I tried to explain that I understand that
but the potential contamination from contact with wheat, rye, or barley is the
issue the representative abruptly said "...hold on" and put me on hold. I
had said just before this that I was trying to give the company a courtesy
call as opposed to posting on an internet website my concern, but that given the
obvious efforts of the company to market to the Celiac community I thought
it was important to be absolutely sure that the product is consistently
produced in a safe manner. I hung up as a protest to the disrespectful way I felt
the representative was reacting to me, and I post this message (after having
not used this board for many months) to inquire as to whether others have a
similar concern and/or experience. Thanks.
