There is no doubt that the body can make all the glucose it requires.
The difference of opinion seems to be whether it will keep on making
glucose beyond the necessary amount, or whether it only produces enough,
no matter how much protein is consumed.
My guess is that a healthy metabolism will stop turning out glucose when
levels reach an appropriate value, but in a body whose carbohydrate
regulation is already out of whack, this is not assured. But I have not
seen the studies which support this, so I am not sure.
