I learned about a new insurance program last week that some of you might be
interested in investigating. On the news, it was touted as insurance
coverage for people who have lost their jobs, but I think it probably covers
people who can't afford insurance due to pre-existing conditions or celiac
disease, etc. - you'll need to ask.

This comes under the heading of Insurance Clubs. I Googled "insurance clubs"
and came up with one real hit...a No Insurance Club out of Kansas City that
appears to find physicians for patients all over the U.S. The url is:

www.noinsuranceclub.com

The information on the news indicated a $480 per year payment for singles,
$680 per year payment for families (just my opinion, but the cost for
singles vs families doesn't seem equitable). Regardless, you get to see a
doc 12 times per year, get routine labs, discounted medications, etc. - no
deductibles and no co-pays. This does not, however, cover specialists. The
web site has changed dramatically just in the past 10 days, so some
information may have changed.

This may not be the best for those of us with multiple problems, but if one
has no insurance at all, something is better than nothing.
