Accessibility Specialist Position
New Editions Consulting, Inc. seeks professional staff to
support a federal government client in their IT accessibility
program in the Washington, DC area.
A working knowledge of Section 504 "reasonable accommodation"
legislation and issues is required. Candidates must possess the
ability to demonstrate a wide variety of adaptive products to
include but not limited to ergonomic products, alternative input
devices, and various solutions for teaching disabled individuals.
Must also be able to conduct ergonomic assessments.
Strong computer, organizational, communication and customer
service skills, and experience in the disability services field
are desired.
Skills Required:
* Proficient with computer (PC) access technology and
IT-related assistive technology (JAWS, ZoomText, Dragon,
videophones, mobile device accessibility features, etc.)
* Proficient in Section 504 requirements and needs
assessments
* Skilled in interacting with persons with disabilities
* Excellent oral and written communication
* Work well independently and collaboratively on a team
Duties
* Provide technical and end user support for users of
assistive technology
* Perform needs assessments for employees with
disabilities in an office environment
* Perform ergonomic/workstation assessments
* Other accessibility related activities
Preferred:
* Minimum 2 years experience
* Familiarity with Section 508 law
* Familiarity with Reasonable Accommodations requirements
for federal government
You must be able to obtain a security clearance.
