Harry,
I suspect the WindowsXP utility you are using being somewhat inflexible as
compared with WinZip or other such utilities, is telling you the truth.
What format is the file, .mp3? If .wav, you can compress it using something
such as the lame encoder and GoldWave or there are many many other
compression routines but if already compressed, leave well alone.
Combine it with a .doc or .txt file into an archive and it should then go
with the XP routine.
Give more info about the file please then we can probably help you further.
