Sorry to hear you are having problems with the GCN site. I am a ZoomText
user and I have no idea what version of flash I am using. The site works
fine for me.
I click on the article I want to listen to. The article comes up in another
window.and I then look for the listen to this article icon. When I click on
this the flash window comes up an shortly thereafter the reading begins.
I noticed the window has controls for pause, start over, move to end of
article, download article to pc,. It also gives the playing time and time
countdown.
There is also a link on the flash window for service feedback contact up
link that will open to a online email form.
I did send them a message as to how pleased I was with the service and
included a part of your posting about your problem with the site.

Subject: [VICUG-L] Petition For GCN accessibility
: Hi Listers,
: I have tried to listen to stories on the GCN.com Website, but even though
I have Flash installed and enabled, I could
: not get the stories to be read. Since Andrew Kirkpatrick was just
answering another question on the list about Flash
: Macromedia, I asked him about that site. He said the content is not
accessible is it is, but that it could be easily
: remedy. He told me to ask myself to the webmaster as that yould have more
impact. I shall do it but if other people
: wish, feel free. Now, Mark said that the speech was very good, so I guess
he managed to hear it. How did you do? Did
: others succeed? I use Jaws 6.2 and Flash 8.5, I think. Here is the contact
info for the Post-Newsweek: The site lists
: Thomas Temin as the editor in chief: [log in to unmask]
