Hi Jurgen and Jim,
Look at the work by Stanislas Tanchou. He did the first statistical study of
cancer deaths which was published in the London lancet in 1843. He followed
cancer deaths in Paris and surrounding rural areas demonstrated that the
more civilized the lifestyle (including diet) the greater the risk of
cancer. Vilhjalmur Stefansson cited Tanchou repeatedly in _Cancer: disease
of civilization?: An anthropological and historical study-_.
The concordance of cancer deaths and civilization are well documented and
pepper the literature since the publication of Tanchou's study.
Best Wishes,
Ron
