I was installing Linux openSUSE 11.3 on my computer and set it up with
boot loader Grub so I could also install Windows XP Home Edition. After
installing both systems and getting them to Dual Boot I upgraded Windows
XP to SP3 and then it crashed. I decided that I shouldn't put Linux on
the same hard drive. I reformatted the drive with Paragon Partition
Manager 11. I had bought a new 1.0 TB drive and put Windows XP on it
and want to use the drive that I had put Linux on as a backup drive
partitioned it as a extended drive and formatted NTFS.
The problem that I get now when I boot the Grub comes up with message:
GRUB loading stage 1.5
Grub loading, please wait
Error 22
The computer then freezes. If I do a cold boot 3 times the the Grub
message is gone and it boots directly into Windows. Since my backup
drive is almost empty I would like to get rid of the GRUB problem on it.
Also sometimes when booting Windows loads to the point where the mouse
pointer will freeze. I'm running Bitdefender Total Security 2011.
Is this 2 problems or is Grub causing this on the second drive? I looked
on the internet to see if I could find a solution but couldn't find a
solution.
