Windows XP Professional. Compaq Evo N1000C laptop.
First off, the battery on this is dead, dead, dead. Don't think that is related but just in case it is . . .
I have been able to get the computer to boot up a couple times
today, but many multiple times, not. When I try, the sequence is
generally:
Compaq screen
a quick progress bar at bottom of the screen
Windows screen (fan kicks in)
Dark gray screen
Black screen
Blue screen (blank)
(Sometimes it cycles back to Compaq screen, otherwise)
Desktop (lower fan speed)
Screen goes blank/fan kicks off
I have received different error messages at this point:
Not enough virtual memory or paging file quota is available to complete the specificed application. The application failed to initialize properly (???????) ???????????????Isace.exe. Operation failed. The requested operation was unsuccessful. (You think? [That was my comment, not the error message])Isaase.exe ???????????????????
I was not always able to catch the whole message because it would slip away so I transcribed as best I could.
I did just get it started in safe mode but don't know if that was
just because I got lucky this time. I could provide an error log if
someone can point me in the right direction, although that could be a
challenge, too. I am in Computer Management/Event Viewer/Application
right now but I have errors dated everywhere from 1969 to 2093. (I told
you my battery is dead.)
Disk is about 80% full so I still have hard drive space. Where do I start?
