Exactly. I have the VOIP adapter, router and cable modem in a cheap UPS. Packet8 on the network and there are occasional problems. When Comcast cable dies, I can't phone to complain.
We used to get to the Internet over the phone, and now we get to the the phone over the Internet.
And I bet there are lots of phones that won't work when that wall adapter is not powered.

They fixed the 911 issue long ago. Actually, fixing the electricity issue is easy too, get a small UPS and just put the router and vonage adapter on it.
A small UPS will run just those 2 things for long enough that if you're with out power longer than that you shouldn't stay there anyway.
