Wrong Contact.
Right after getting my general, I discovered my 40 meter
inverted V would tune well on 15 meters and I immediately fell in
love with it. All that loud DX, too. So, I'm new on the band.
Tuning up through the CW band, I guess I didn't really know the
band plan. Hearing a VE7 on side band calling CQ, I tuned up,
called him, and we had a wonderful visit for about 20 minutes. I
was writing in my log after the contact when a friend of this guy
came on the frequency and said, "Did you know you were 20 KHz
below the American phone band?" He said, "Oh, i never noticed
that. I guess you are right." I quietly turned the VFO up the
band and quickly learned where I could, and couldn't transmit on
15 meters.
Phil.
