I received one response to my post.

/I called my supplier of propranolol today, -- in this case it was Pliva, which 
was recently bought by Barr Pharmauticals.

As of today (and I emphasize this) their 10 mg and 20 mg tabs contain 
cellulose that they report is based on WOOD OR COTTON.  NO WHEAT./

Now, if I can find a pharmacy that uses this supplier!
