I'm wondering if those messages you're seeing about running an old
browser are alt tags associated with an image or some text that appears
when you have images disabled. Some web pages used to use that to
indicate that you needed to upgrade from a text browser. I just grew to
ignore them over time, but I don't recall seeing a message like that
recently.
