Hi Everyone,
I am new to the list and am looking forward to giving and receiving help
with Audacity. I will probably be asking for more help at this point because
I am fairly new to Audacity. I am using Audacity 1.3 beta on a Dell desktop
computer with Windows 7 64 bit.
Last June, I attended my alumni reunion and recorded several meetings and
programs using an Olympus DM 520 digital voice recorder. When I returned
home, I copied these files to my computer. I recorded two of the files in
.mp3 format and had no trouble opening and editing them with Audacity once I
downloaded and installed the lame encoder. However, I accidentally recorded
some of the files in the .wma format that seems to be the default for this
player. When I tried to open one of them, I got the following message:
Error importing graphic 798
Audacity recognized the type of the file
'C:\Users\Dscalzi\Documents\Documents\Documents\nyssb alumni
association\audio files\2011 reunion programs\June
2011 board meeting.WMA'.
Importers supposedly supporting such files are:
FFmpeg-compatible files,
but none of them understood this file format.
OK Help
When I clicked on help, I received the following:
graphic 946 Unsupported Formats graphic 73 graphic 73 graphic 798 < >
wma-proprietary Close
Do you know of a way to convert these files to .mp3 or am I out of luck as
it appears? I will appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks in advance.
Diane Scalzi
