Hi Harry

Two thoughts, off the cuff:

--Did you talk to the computer department or the audio department? For
comparison you might call a place that specializes in audio. That might
increase the odds that the frontline person answering the phone would
have concise ideas. Offhand I would say you might have both wired
options and things like infrared but the infrared might have line of
sight issues: the signal would not pass through walls for instance.

--I know people do all kinds of things to wire their homes for audio
and that there should be no reason you would not be able to have your
computer be the sound source. I would not run wires along the floor;
run them along a wall or ceiling so you don't trip over them. Beyond
that I will leave to people who know what they are doing to spell out
more details but maybe this gives you more ideas what to ask about.

Subject: [VICUG-L] an external speaker in another room to listen to my
computer?

Hi all,
I have a laptop here in the livingroom, and like most folks on this
list, I love to listen to audio on my laptop, such as games, music,
etc.!
Well, I would love to be able to relax and listen to the computer in
the bedroom, instead of having to sit out here in the livingroom all
the time.  I want to leave the computer out here, and not move it.
So, do any of you have an idea on how I can do that?
I called Best Buy, and ABC Warehouse, and the only thing they told me
was, "you're going to have to get a speaker with a cord on it and plug
it into your laptop, and then, drag the speaker/cord down the hallway."
So, anybody have any ideas?
Harry
