Umm, actually it's not really a pure MP3 file, and you do need to download 
the software and do a special activation of the supported player you're 
using.

You also can't legally share books and, while not impossible, is, to say the 
least, inconvenient to do it the other way.

While I like the service and have used it almost as many years as Audible 
has been in existence, it is more of a proprietary form of MP3.
