Sounts like a bug to me.

Obviously, when there is only one program open the tab key is 'silent'

pressed in conjunction with the alt key - there not being any other
program
open on the taskbar to cycle into: thus we activate the menu bar
instead, as
if we had pressed only the alt key.

Subject: [VICUG-L] Confused about Alt/Tab

Hello Morey and other interested parties:

This sounds like the beginning of a comedy routine but let me try and
muddy
the waters a bit more.

These are keystrokes for Windows and not for JAWS

Alt tab will move you from one program to another when you have whatever
program in memory and these programs show up on your taskbar.

Windows logo key, (the flying windows) and M will minimize all
programs and
put you on the desktop.

When you are on the desktop pressing tab again will put you on the start
menu but not open the start menu.

Pressing tab key again moves to the taskbar. Now this is where it gets
confusing to me. I have a row of shortcut icons just to the right of the
start button and above the tabs that are on the taskbar that I have in
memory. This area is called the quick launch area. To access these
program icons I use the arrow keys to move from one program shortcut
to the
other. When I get to the end of the line it will rap back to the
beginning.

Pressing tab again will get me to the taskbar where I have the
programs in
memory. Using the arrow keys again will move me along the taskbar where
landing on program tab and pressing the enter key will bring the program
back to the desktop.

Pressing the tab key a forth time will put me in thee system tray just
to
the left of the clock if you have the clock on the taskbar. And yes you
guessed it; you can move around the system tray with the arrow keys
and move
to the clock.

Are you still with me there?

In summery:

The windows key with letter m will get you back to the desktop at any
time.

> taskbar.

When landing on program icons or program tabs use the arrow keys to move
between them.

This tabbing and arrowing makes me glad I still click with a mouse.

Subject: [VICUG-L] Confused about Alt/Tab

: Hello all,
: Using Win/XP Home, Jaws 8, and OE.
: If I have OE open, Ctr/M to the desktop, open another thing like a
document,
: close it, this is when I get confused.
: I know at that time, OE is the only application at that time. If I
press
the
: alt/tab key to get back to OE, I get the menu bar message, and Jaws
does
not
: go directly to OE.
: If I go to the desktop first, then press the alt/tab key, Jaws will
then
go
: to OE and I am on my way.
: Any thoughts as to why?
: This is not a life threatening matter, but a confusing one.
: Must be a simple explanation but not for my thinking.
: Thoughts?
: Thanks,
: Morey Worthington
