Hi Kat,
Over here, after you get your law degree (and wish to enter the legal
profession) you have to be "articled" to a law firm. Doing summer work with the
firm you hope to get your articles with is a good "foot in the door strategy",
working for a retailer isn't (particularly if you then fail to show Employment
Disability Discrimination when you sue them after working just 6 days!) .
The US has over 1.1m lawyers, UK has a lot less!!
