Perhaps so.  I'll probably go back to lurking except for the more
violent assaults on science sensibility...

Really don't know enough about Hawaii to even guess.  My impression is
that ocean islands in general are going to become more and more victim
to stronger storm systems.  I'm sure there could be exceptions, but
I'd want to be on high but sheltered ground in any case.  Regions that
might benefit would be colder climates (well above sea level) with
good supplies of fresh water....
