Well based on my very limited knowledge you really have two choices in 
caller id boxes.  The first basically gives you the number and date and 
stores 10 numbers.  The second holds 99 numbers and supposedly gives you 
name along with number.  When you look more closely, however, you find that 
you have to prerecord the name that corresponds to a particular number.  So, 
if one person calls regularly, you can put their name in so the box 
announces their name.  Although I haven't looked thoroughly, I believe you 
can buy phones with built in caller id that talks.
