During a contest everybody is 599 unless you are running qrp, then it''s 
599.  I guess I think of field day, as Ham radio meets camping.  The thing 
is to get out with the guys and their families.  Make a camp fire, roast 
hotdogs, play radios, test out gear and antennas, and have a few beers along 
the way.  That's what makes it different than any other contest.
Tents, mud, thunderstorms, tents blowing down, what fun!!!
