Dr. Kumar:

Thank you for offering to answer questions.

What I am having a problem with is understanding the relationship of
gluten sensitive enteropathy to celiac disease. They are different, yes?

What I think is true is that gluten sensitivity is a intolerance to a
different part of the gluten protein. Also, people who have gluten
sensititivity have difficulty metbolizing phenol-containing substances.
The rate of incidence for gluten sensitivity is 1:300 in Europe, yes?

I know that there has to be a genetic predisposition for celiac
disease...is there a different genetic factor in gluten sensitivity? Can
a person have celiac disease without GS, or have Gs without having celiac
disease?

I noticed posts on New Year's day regarding digestive enzymes... is that a
celiac condition or actually a gluten sensitivity/phenolic problem?

 All for no,

Becky Markle
