What can it do connected to the Internet?

Can I check the rainfall in your backyard?  Or does it gather info from the net?

Yes, I am using a Oregon Scientific station on my computer and have it on the enternet 24-7.
I have been very happy with it.
I use window-eyes for reading the screen.
