My guess would be an HW issue. This happened to my son's laptop, and IBM
thinkpad T40, and it turned out to be a short in the motherboard. It was
still under warranty, and we were able to get it serviced.

Subject: [VICUG-L] down screen
Hi all,
I have a Toshiba laptop and this week the screen will not work. It comes up
for a second and goes blank. I am able to use another monitor.
The ironic thing about it is that if I were a visual computer user, I would
not be able to use the computer but since I use a screen reader I am able to
keep using it.
Any ideas why the screen doesn't work?
JODY
