thank you all for offering so many suggestions.
Though I sometimes get the "pop up blocked" message, the issue with the
unresponsive links doesn't usually involve them. Yesterday before I posted,
I had made 10 or 12 attempts to open a link on a page that had never given
me problems. I tried the link again today, and it opened just fine.
I've actually gotten additional suggestions off list. I'm posting all of the
responses below in case others encounter the problem.
What to Do When a Link Doesn't Open:
1. bring up the JAWS list of links with JAWSKey+F7, pick your desired link
from it and press enter. The JAWSKey+F7 focus will normally first
highlight the link neareast to where you are at that point in the message.
Your default browser will then open ....
2. press the F5 key which is the browser refresh command. that helps
sometimes.
3. That is not a JFW problem. ... i am using Window eyes and have seen the
same problem. Generally, the only way to fix this that I know of is to
unload IE and then reload the page. This usually works.
4. Another solution is to press CTRL+Enter on the link. Sometimes this
tends to solve the problem.
5. It is not JAWS. It is your security settings with your browser or your
virus protection blocking the page from being opened. You can fix this by
enabling Pop Ups or if you do not want to do this, you can get around it by:
-- Pressing JAWS key+minus key,
-- Up arrow to where you hear 'pop up blocked ...'
-- Press star
-- Down arrow through the options and continue as prompted.
