Hello all.

While browsing a list of files on our server, at work, I find a number
of files which have a
dot underscore dot prefix and look like this:

._.fileName.ext

and

.ds_store

From a screen access and pc using perspective, I find these annoying.

I'd like to know just how these function, what use they are to PC users
and what use they are to Mac users, and whether they can be deleted
safely without breaking something which Mac users need.

Can something be done on the Mac side so that these files can be removed
as part of the copy process from Mac to PC?

Help and understanding much appreciated.

John S
