Hi folks,
For weeks now I've been having a problem with the internet. I have Windows
98 and I believe Internet Explorer 6, (I don't seem to be able to figure out
where it gives the version number). When I first boot up, mostly I can get
on to the internet as usual. But 99% of the time if I try a second time to
get on the Internet, I get the following message:

I've run AdAware which said it quaranteened something like 300 files; I
tried running Registry Mechanic which said it did some clean-up but I'd need
the paid version to finish the job. I've gone to the web and tried to
download something called RegCure but it won't load.
I've thought of trying to re-install this version of the internet, or
upgrading to a newer version, (though I've heard that some people have
issues with the later versions of IE). I even thought of re-installing
Windows-98, but that is a daunting project indeed, especially if it didn't
fix my problem. It's been suggested to me that something might be wrong
with my registry, which is why I tried some of the things above.
This problem just started out of nowhere; I don't recall doing any
adjustment to my computer that would have triggered this situation.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be most appreciative. It's an incredibly
annoying problem, and is certainly limiting my ability to use my computer to
its fullest.
Happy holidays and the best in the coming year to all of you.
