Hi Ray,

has she tried downloading elsewhere? She may have to delete her Internet
history files as well as delete her temporary Internet files. [Activate
Temporary Internet Files & History Settings Button, to go in there.] I've
had (and heard of others having) this problem in the past with IE5 and 6,
and it seems the only real fix for it is to fix things in the Registry.
Before that, do a scan for all spyware and get rid of all of it. An
alternative may be to try using Firefox instead, or definitely would be to
use another download manager or ftp client. Microsoft usually has blamed
third party software for causing this type of problem.

The steps to get to the right download link for AVG free are:

1. Go to

http://free.grisoft.com/doc/downloads-products/us/frt/0?prd=aff

[that is the exact link of the page you would want. You can get there also
by going through the 'download' link on http://free.grisoft.com/ ]

2. there, look for
AVG 7.5 Free for Windows
[which will be a link] and enter on it. The download should then begin in
the
usual way. Choose Save.

There is no problem with IE7 as such. the problem is finding the download
link for the free edition, with any browser.

Hi.

My client tried "Save Target As" and says she can't get that to work
either. I thought of Save Target As when I left work last night. Also
remember, "Save Target As" only works when you've got a link to download
something. Sometimes, you have to click or hit enter on a button to do
a download, so "Save Target As" won't work. So, we still need to find
and fix the mystery setting in IE 7.

Thanks,

It doesn't happen on all files to be downloaded, but it may ... on this
occasion... go into the context menu and use save target as... (This is
fairly basic tech support knowledge. In fact, Save Target As usually
works more reliably than merely downloading using save-as.)

Hello All:

I'm working with someone who wants to download the AVG Free Edition
Version 7.5. She's got Windows Internet Explorer Version 7.

When she clicks on the link to do the download, all she gets is the
check box about closing the dialog box when the download completes and
the cancel button. She doesn't get the run or save buttons.

I remember seeing this problem before and I do not know which setting I
changed to fix it. Any help with what setting in IE 7 to check and
change for downloading files so my client can download AVG would be
appreciated.

Thanks,
