I've been to Robb's Paleo Solution Seminar (July 31) and I never got the feeling he demonized fat or any kind of fat specifically. Most people buying that book are interested in losing weight. I don't really see any harm in suggesting that leaner meats would be better for that. Certainly, getting from overweight to ideal weight required me to concentrate on lean meats over fatty ones and to be far less lavish with the coconut oil, coconut milk, etc.
Cordain was mostly about people eating grass fed meat, but in 2002, there wasn't as much available, so the short cut is to eat very lean meat. Robb claims that Cordain practically wept when he saw the edited version of the book, so I wouldn't assume his feelings about fat were well portrayed there.
I know his more recent writing does not suggest people replace animal fats with canola oil any more. I'll be interested to see what's in the upcoming cookbook - I think it comes out in October.
Robb does not have nice things to say about Palmitic Acid, but if you look at what the Hyperlipid guy (Peter...something) and Stephen Guyenet have said about it, you'll find some of the same issues discussed.
