I use the microwave only to defrost meat.  We have an electric kettle for
heating water for tea.  It's faster than the microwave actually.  I also
occasionally bake a potato: 5 minutes instead of 45.  It wouldn't be much  
of
a loss to me to stop using it entirely, and I'm considering it.
