I have had my THF6A fixed under warranty the screen went bad.  I have had my 
radio for about 2 years or so.  Yes I am afraid you would have to send it 
back to Kenwood to get it fixed.  It depends how long you have had your 
radio depends on how much you are willing to pay to get it fixed.
