Hello list!
Thank you for the outpouring of ideas, support and recommendations.
There were far too many responses to allow for individual replies.
It seems I should have included a little more background. I had
several messages with questions about Lyme's diagnosis.
Unfortunately, Lyme's disease diagnosis is not straightforward
positive/negative and is often highly controversial. Lab results
conflict, and I fall in a grey zone. Both my primary care doc and my
infectious disease doc would qualify as "Lyme Literate." (For those
interested you might like www.lymenet.com). Many people expressed
concern that my doctors are well informed about this disease since it
is so controversial. Both the doctors I am seeing are also well
versed in Celiac. And I have spent the last several months on oral
antibiotics, with no improvement. I want to be sure that all other
possibilities are ruled out before undertaking the risks and
restrictions associated with IV antibiotics.
The following doctors/centers were recommended:
Dr. Green at Columbia--"worth the wait"
Dr. B. Robert Mozeyani at Optimal Health Physicians in Shady Grove
MD for Lyme
Dr. Samuel Shor internal medicine in Reston VA
Dr. Joseph Jemsek Infectious Disease in Charlotte, NC
Dr. Fredrick Wigley at Johns Hopkins Rheumatology
Mayo's celiac clinic
NY Presbyterian
Johns Hopkins
The following doctors/centers were NOT recommended:
The Cleveland Clinic
The Lahey Clinic in Boston for failure to communicate between
specialists
Nutritional fixes suggested:
Magnesium
Potassium
additional food allergies
Thanks again for all the ideas! As most on this list know, it is very
frustrating to be send from one specialist to another, and still feel
miserable. My current plan to to follow leads on a couple local
rheumatologists, and if those fail, or the results are still nebulous,
to head to Johns Hopkins or Mayo.
