well, they're cheap and so attractive to organizations on a tight budget.
Yaesu, also inexpensive for their single band rigs, are far more robust and
have a much better track record then alinco.
I find the yaesu ft 24, 25, 26, and 2800M series quite accessible.
Not sure about other radios though.
I currently have an ft2800M which i like.
