You can definitely replace the sound card with another one. In some
cases (well, most really) you need to or should disable the sound card
in the BIOS. I personally dislike the older on-board cards anyway.
Though if I'm honest about it, it's because I have a rather
discriminating ear when it comes to music.

The only thing you want to be careful about is with the date of
manufacture on that mobo, it most likes does not have PCI Express
slots. That being the case, you need to be sure you get a standard PCI
sound card.

I've seen cases where the sound drivers were VERY OEM specific, and
only the drivers that came on the CD for that mobo will work.
