Tom,

Setting Menu 48 to 67 will program the PF1 key so that you'll get a carrier
when you press it.

Now, here's a bonus tip: You can still have the PF key programmed for
another function. When you're in the menus, pressing the VFO A/B button
(the third one down in the group immediately to the right of the tuning
knob), you can switch between one of two sets of menu settings. You'll hear
a single beep for one set and a double beep for the other. By default,
you're in the single beep set, and if I were you, I'd leave 48 unchanged in
that set. In the double-beep set, change Menu 48 to 67. Then, you can just
switch between the two sets of menus to change the function of the PF1 key.
I find this a very convenient way to change the PF1 key function without
having to remember which menu controls it. You could give your radio a very
different "personality" by changing other menus in the alternate setting.

Steve
