I have experienced several bouts of such cravings over the last year. The
first thing I took was Glucophage (for insulin resistance, which I did have),
then Chromium Polynicotinate (for the same), and finally, starting about 3
months ago, 5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP).
5-HTP, I am told, is a precursor chemical to serotinin. A lack of serotonin
can lead to cravings for sweets, as well as feeling sad all the time. Since
taking 5-HTP, my cravings and hunger pangs have been sharply curtailed.
Hope this helps.
