Title: Accessibility Manager
Location: Seattle, Washington
Dept.: Employee & Community Services
Reports to: Director of Employee & Community Services
Hours: Full Time M/F
Summary:
The purpose of this position is to oversee creation of a fully
accessible environment for Lighthouse employees and participants
in our
programs and services. This position will also implement and
oversee the
Accommodations procedures at all LH locations.
Responsibilities: Develop and implement written accessibility
standards for all LH
facilities
Develop and implement written Accommodations process at all LH
locations
Work with and support O&M staff regarding accessibility issues
Consult and act as a resource for other management and staff
members in
setting up accessible sites, departments, and individual jobs
Develop department goals and outcome measures
Develop and monitor Accessibility budget
Coordinate and/or conduct accessibility evaluations for employees
Develop and provide training for supervisors and managers about
accessible environments and accommodations procedure
Work cooperatively with other departments, including IT dept
Develop
and maintain cooperative working relationships with community
agencies and services
Participate in Management Team meetings and activities
Represent the Lighthouse in a positive and professional manner
Travel to Inland Northwest Lighthouse and Base Service Centers to
implement and ensure access at each location
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements
Demonstrated knowledge of a wide range of accommodation resources
Demonstrated effectiveness in advocacy for accessibility issues
Thorough knowledge of general ADA and accessibility issues;
especially
regarding issues for people who are blind and low vision,
including
transportation and workplace issues
Grant management experience preferred
Ability to problem solve effectively
Ability to take initiative, function autonomously, and be
dependable.
Ability to produce high-quality written documents, including
correspondence, reports, etc
Comprehensive knowledge of PC applications, including MS Word,
Excel,
Outlook, Access, and Internet Explorer.
Demonstrated understanding of basic adaptive software for blind
and low
vision users, such as Zoomtext, Magic and Jaws. Professional
demeanor
Demonstrated excellent written and interpersonal communication
skills
Willingness to work as a team member
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Education or related field
required
3 years supervisory experience
Mature judgment and sensitivity in interpersonal relations and
among
diverse groups
5+ years experience in the ADA/accessibility field
