Hi.
I have the Icom IC-R75, and frankly the synchronous detector in the R75 was
a huge disappointment. It worked far better on my old Drake R8A, and still
works better on my Sony ICF2010.
Were I Icom, I wouldn't even bother to advertise that the radio had
it. That is how ineffective it is on the stock ICR75. I've heard that
there are aftermarket mods to correct the shortcomings of the synchronous
detector in the R75, but haven't had them done to my radio, so I am
speaking of the radio with the accessory filters that Icom sells, but
otherwise unmodified.
