It's also important to know if there are any power lines around.  They
could ruin your day.

 I put up all of my wire antennas and small verticals.  Anything larger
than 
that I get someone that can see.  I try to always check things out so I
am 
sure what I am doing first.  I try to get a sighted person to look
around 
for tree limbs and other things that I might not be aware of that an
antenna 
could hang up on.  Wire antennas usually are fairly simple to put up if
you 
have clearence and can get the center high enough. I try to check if
there 
is anything that the antenna migh couple with.
