that is exactly correct. what you gain in one area, you sacrifice in others.
and for what it's worth, a g5rv, will not resonate on any amateur band.
it'd be more correct to say it's not cut for resonance on any amateur band.
if you had the space you'd be better served to put up a few resonant 
antennas say, one for 80 and one for 40 and use them up on their third, 
sixth and ninth harmonics respectively.
not the best solution but it's just a thought.
