I don't know if you can still get it, but Barker & Williamson used to
make a Vacationer antenna that clipped on the window and pointed a
telescopic vertical outward by about 45 degrees. You use a counterpoise
(included) with it. I had one, and it came with removable coils for 40,
20, 15, 10, and I think you could use it on 6 meters, too.
With one of the Radio Shack 10-mtr rigs at the height of the
last sun spot cycle, I worked lots of Europeans and five Japanese
stations from West Philadelphia with all of 5 watts. I also used it up
until 3 years ago with an Icom IC706 and managed to work Europe fairly
often.
