I think that your antipathy toward Yaesu rigs is far too strong.

I have used them satisfactorily for 30 years.
Sure, they need a little more setting up with help from someone with useful
vision, but once done are truly superb!
My FT1000MP is far superior on HF than my Kenwood TS2000.

What news from anyone on the list about the improved accessibility of the
even more superior K3?

I still stand by my belief that staying away from yaesu products is by far 
and away the best thing you can do but that's just me. OK, not just me, many
