Hi;
I suspect you saved some good money having a friend help with the wiring. I
had a furnace company do it primarily because it wasn't doing me much good
in the box. It cost a few dollars but works fine.
I have heard periodic message such as "time to change filter" or "time to
change bulb" but they only seem to play once and after that you are on your
own.

I think that's probably where most of us got ours. The guy who runs that is
really great. The only problem I had is that I couldn't install the thing
without eyes around because the wiring info wasn't accessible to mine. I
could
see the wire colors with the gadget I've got but didn't have the info for
hooking them up to the thermostat. Also didn't have the jumper info I
needed.
Got a friend over to help with it rather than a heating person so saved
myself
that batch of money <g>. I think mine is the 1000. Got it a couple months
ago.
