Hello Everyone,
I had mono my senior year in high school. I had been chronically
ill with tonsillitis for about 6 months before that. I swear I have
never been the same since then. Now, about 15 years later I find out
I have Hashimoto's. There is no family incidence of this problem in
my family (who have all since been tested). So I guess I either
have/had a "viral" infection or chronic stress, either one could
apply. I have also wondered if the infection ever really goes away.
I am slowly feeling better and more energetic with Synthroid .05,
which is still being adjusted to get my TSH "around" 1. I do have bad
days though where I just want to stay (or crawl back) in bed to rest
"for a while." I also suffer from swollen lymph glands around my jaw
and armpits. I am learning what foods I am sensitive to and have also
been advised not to consume iodine whenever possible. This basically
means preparing everything myself! Sea salt is a great alternative to
table salt, you just have to remember to carry some with you at all
times.
Best of luck to everyone, I enjoy reading and sharing information
about our common problems.
Take care,
Marlene

I get swollen lymph glands frequently. I had "mono" twice as a
teenager -
both times it was confirmed by lab reports
Does a virus ever really leave your body or does it go dormant with
