Seeking information but feeling pretty hopeless. So far no one responds to
my posts to this list so I wonder if I am doing something wrong. Any
suggestions for more effective posts would be helpful as I really do need
information.
My thyroid scan revealed a diffuse goiter with the gland being 35 gms
instead of the normal 15-20. The Dr. prescribed Levoxyl .075mg per day.
He said that I probably have a deficiency in a enzyme that is needed for
the thyroid somewhere along the chain of processes. I have never heard of
this before. I can't find anything out about it anywhere. Does anyone have
any information on this, experience or know where I could look other than
the usual sites?
I have long had hypo symptoms with the worst being sleepiness. It is
unknown if I would ever wake up without an alarm or someone waking me. I
typically sleep 10-12 hours and can't manage on less than that for very
long. My thyroid tests have always been in the normal range though.
The goiter seems to be shrinking already which is nice since I can swallow
and am comfortable. How soon might I expect the Levoxyl to affect other
problems? Did anyone experience some nearly immediate changes?
Could this be early Hashimotos? The Endo said that it wasn't right now.
