Nicola,
We're from Melbourne and we agree with you on everything. For a city of 3
million people or so there are only 11 practising Endocrinoligists outside
of the hospital
system here. Now considering that most thyroid conditions affect women
(eg.female/male
ratio for Hashi's is 50:1) these Endo's are all guys. I'm not having a dig
at them
personally but it would explain why Linda, until recently, was given the
psych treatment by them over and over. Most of them didn't even acknowledge
her symptoms because her TSH was supposedly 'normal'. I will make my point
clear so that no male Endo's or up & coming Endo's take offense; I would
like to see more women (like Dr.
Vliet of Texas) taking a stand for people like yourselves so that your
suffering is
not prolonged unnecessarily like Linda's has been. Twice I witnessed how she
was treated by these people and I believe people of the third world get more
consideration
than what she received. I reckon the true number of sufferers here in Oz is
far greater than we are led to believe.
All the best..
David and Linda,
Melbourne, Australia
